About me…
I’m a native Texan currently living and working in Long Beach, CA. In Texas, I was a studio art professor at Texas Woman’s University, where I received my MFA in Drawing and Painting. Currently I am working as an art and music instructor at Able Arts Work, assisting adults with developmental disabilities.
Aside from helping others grow their creativity and connection, my passions lie in the realm of art, music, nature and dreams. My paintings are an exploration of themes from my dreams, imagery from my travels, and inspirations from the artists and musicians that I am fortunate to work with.
In my paintings, which I consider “dreamscapes”, one can find plants, objects, and places that act as symbols for deeper narratives about: humans and our relationship with mother earth, the nature of reality, and perception.
My “postcard project” was born out of a desire to make art in the van while on tour with the bands I play with. I am currently the drummer for Los Angeles band, Death Valley Girls, which has taken me all over the U.S. and to many countries abroad. These miniature paintings are meant to keep my practice alive while on the road, but also to share my passion for snail mail and physical media to broaden human connection.
Finally, in the spirit of accessibility, I have created prints of my original postcard project watercolors and some of my larger paintings so that I always have a $5 - $45 option for people who enjoy my artwork, but are not financially able to purchase an original painting. Please enjoy looking at my current online gallery and don’t hesitate to reach out to me personally to make a connection!
